Ken Rosenthal: Melky Cabrera? Bruce Levine Notes: Brian Roberts, Marlon Byrd, Jon Leiber

Ken Rosenthal has said that the Cubs are interested in acquiring Melky Cabrera from the New York Yankees...hmmm. According to Bruce Levine the Brian Roberts to Chicago from Baltimore deal is dead. It's unknown if this is true. A new name has surfaced: Marlon Byrd. He spent 109 games last year with the Texas Rangers and in those games he hit .307 with a .355 on base percentage. If a Byrd deal is struck he is likely to platoon with Felix Pie. The Cubs are supposedly hot on their former 20 game winner Jon Leiber.

My take: Melky Cabrera sound interesting. Please, please, please Bruce Levine tell me that your Roberts report isn't true. This guy could be such a big key to this team. Marlon Byrd sounds good but Melky sounds better. Byrd does have more experience... Leiber, well I guess he's a better option than Marquis at this point. Oh no, what's going on?!
