
T.R. Sullivan of Mlb.com says the Cubs have talked to the Texas Rangers about acquiring outfielder Marlon Byrd. He says they are only in the early stages of trade talks. The proposed deal would have the Cubs surrendering outfielder Matt Murton. If the deal is struck Byrd could platoon with Felix Pie in center field. Byrd will become a free agent in 2009.
My take: I don't know if Pie needs to share time with Marlon Byrd...
