According to sources the Cubs are on the verge of acquiring 2 time all star 2nd baseman Brian Roberts from the Baltimore Orioles. The Cubs would reportedly have to surrender Sean Gallagher, Matt Murton, and Eric Patterson.
The Cubs would have the upper hand in such a deal. Here's a potential starting lineup and batting order if we acquire Brian Roberts (one that's favorable in many Cubs fans minds). Some may agree and disagree but this is something personally I'd like to see happen with the proposed roster:
1. Alfonso Soriano LF - can start the game with a bang
2. Brain Roberts 2B - good addition for the top
3. Aramis Ramirez 3B - can drive in the 1 and 2 men, or hit it out
4. Kosuke Fukudome RF- adds a lefty between A-Ram and D-Lee
5. Derrek Lee 1B - good gap hitter
5. Derrek Lee 1B - good gap hitter
6. Mark DeRosa SS -can do a lot
7. Geovanny Soto C - progressing into a very good hitter
8. Felix Pie CF - bad hitter, but adds a little bit of speed
9. Zambrano/Lilly/Hill/Marquis/Marshall P - of course
This would be a amazing lineup. Speed, power, everything. This lineup could get the job done. Get this deal done Jim Hendry!
